When Bali's on the Way, You Might as Well Stop By

After Burma, we planned to go to India for the last leg of our trip.  Direct flights are limited and expensive so we made the practical, economically sound decision to stop in Kuala Lumpur. And, since we were going to be in Kuala Lumpur, we made the practical/decadent decision to spend a week in Bali.

During our quick stop in Kuala Lumpur, we stayed in Clemence and Christophe's gorgeous apartment.  We were so excited by the apartment, in fact, that we didn't leave much, preferring instead to play house, cook, lounge, use the pool and gym, and take in the amazing views.

In Kuala Lumpur, we did a low budget helicopter tour of the city

Hi Alina! What's that behind you?

Important phone call. Work never stops when you are on vacation

Chilling at Clemence and Christophe's home, our main and favorite activity in Kuala Lumpur
In Bali, we did the opposite, staying in terrible hotels and spending our time outside.  We did a lot of diving. First in Pemuteran (a beautiful coral wall on the small island of Pulau Menjangan), and then Tulamben, where we went diving on an incredible wreck about 50 meters from our hotel room (literally).

Aside from the ridiculous proximity of the wreck to the beach, diving in Tulamben was also really fun because Jeremy got to play diving instructor with Alina: we rented diving gear from the nearby shop, and then went diving just the 2 of us right when we woke up (and then had breakfast and went diving again, because that's what we do).

This is another face of "Greedy Bites": When we both order the same thing, and Jeremy seizes both plates and makes sure that he is getting the biggest one

This is how Alina visits temples: she hides underneath the giant frog. Classic.

Jeremy is more into giant fish

Diving did not really leave too much time for other activities, but we did squeeze in a few things. We had some delicious seafood on the beach in Jimbaran, south of Bali. We visited the Water Palace of Tirta Gangga.  We enjoyed doing nothing in Ubud, Balinese capital of chilling.  And of course we woke up at 3am to hike up Mount Batur, went to said Mount, confirmed that it was raining, and went back to sleep at 7am.

Jeremy and Alina,

The Water Palace was a great place for posing on pictures...

...And we tried posing in a few different ways...

... However, we were no match for our Russian competition. Prepare to be served.

Slutty dresses are in style year-long in Russia

Feel free to show this picture to your colleagues at work

Jeremy was in shock for a few hours after seeing the Russian photoshoot

This view cost us a very long walk

It also cost us $2 to rent ugly sarongs
