Whistles on the Lake

The last stop on our Burma visit was the Inle Lake area.  Inle Lake is a huge lake, the second biggest in Burma, and definitely the most beautiful.  Every morning, we walked 3 meters from our hotel to the lake where we boarded on a small wooden boat, and we spent the days exploring the inside and outside of the lake by water.

We brought toys to give out to kids throughout the trip and, during the long boatrides, we had a lot of fun playing with them ourselves and then aiming them into other boats when we saw kids (does this sound like harassment?  yes, maybe it was).

Some members of the Katz family were even reluctant to share their toys with the Burmese kids. Said members will however not be  named, but Alain still has a whistle in his pocket.

We happened to be in the area during an annual boat regatta, which is where we started the second day on Inle. It was mostly an exhibition race, with a huge crowd gathering around, having a good time, and cheering for the participants.

It was getting a bit chilly on the boat in the late afternoon, but the girls were partying anyway

On the last day, we visited some monasteries on the water, and Jeremy got his mother drunk. We also learnt to make boats such as the one we had been riding in, a skill which should prove quite useful in our everyday lives.
